Subject: SEOBDA District and OkMEA Honor Band Audition Information
Attached to this letter is the SEOBDA High School District Honor Band music list (with district selections indicated). If you have students who are auditioning for the OKMEA All-State Honor Band, you can go to the OkMEA site for a complete listing of the etudes required. Please check the SEOBDA web site for the 2026-2027, 7th Grade and 8th/9thGrade Etudes.
NOTES:
- High School Students who are only auditioning for the SEOBDA All-District Band (10th-12th): Please remember that if a student is only auditioning for the high school district honor band, they will play the district only etude and sight-reading.
- High School Students who are auditioning for both the OkMEA All-State and SEOBDA High School All-District: STATE-Prepare both etudes listed on the OkMEA Music list for their instrument, and sight-reading.
HS Scale Requirement: THERE IS NO SCALE REQUIREMENT FOR OkMEA STATE FIRST ROUND OR SEOBDA HS ALL-DISTRICT.
- *High school percussion: STATE-Students will prepare all the etudes listed (on the OKMEA website) plus sight-reading. DISTRICT ONLY-A cut of the OKMEA Snare, 2 Mallet, and Timpani Etudes plus Sight Reading.
- Reminder-All this information plus downloadable versions of the following is available on the SEOBDA web site (seobda.org): A. Seventh Grade audition etudes. B. Seventh Grade Scales (no memory requirement-Bb, Eb, Ab, and one octave Chromatic Scale starting on Bb Concert). C. 8th/9th Grade Scales (no memory requirement) Bb, Eb, Ab, F, Db, and the one octave Chromatic Scale starting on Bb Concert). D. 8th and 9th Grade Audition Etudes.
